As a personal chef, integrative nutrition health coach, and certified personal trainer, I understand the importance of being able to have a sustainable plan for healthy living.

But it didn’t start out that way!   

After I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, I came home and was immediately frustrated when I walked into the kitchen. I didn’t know what to eat and didn’t have the skills to cook anything healthy at home. And the frustration and embarrassment led to me eating out a lot.

I ate whatever I wanted and then some. I ate lots of fatty, fried food and drank soda like it was going out of style. I didn’t take my own health seriously.

Then in May 2020, I had a blood sugar incident that sent me to the emergency room. My blood sugar was over 600 (normal for diabetics shouldn’t be more than 130) and I was in serious trouble health-wise. In that hospital room, I prayed for the strength to make the necessary changes in my lifestyle, and learn to cook and eat healthily.
